I love to learn. Books, articles, teachers, friends, mentors, YouTube, Twitter, Google… I’m always excited to read, listen, and learn more. Oddly enough, I’ve also found the most interesting topics are ones that require the most growing pains. This is especially true when a new idea or concept challenges one of my existing beliefs. It makes my head spin and the whole world feel a little off kilter. It may take some time to process my new perspective, but I tend to emerge on the other side stronger, more informed, more nuanced, usually more confused, and almost always with the desire to learn even more.
Nothing has made me seek out more new information than becoming a mom. Talk about a steep learning curve. And panic. Lots of panic.
Countless books, magazines, articles, breastfeeding hotline calls, mom groups, blogs, and texts later, I discovered some amazing resources and even better support. Some of the best ideas, stories, inspiration and camaraderie came from stumbling across mommy blogs online. I am forever grateful to the women that have opened up their lives online sharing their stories, experiences, humor, and insights. This incredible community has made me laugh and cry, challenged me to move out of my comfort zone, and most of all, believe in myself. I hope to pay it forward with this blog by sharing the best resources I’ve found, along with my own experiences, adventures, reviews and reflections on being “Mom” and finding my true self on this remarkable ride.
Please share your comments and feedback here and throughout the site. I look forward to hearing and learning from you, too!
